HELP! PO327 & PO332 Knock sensor .

HELP! PO327 & PO332 Knock sensor . I am out of ideas. I have been getting a SES codes PO327 and PO332 for the last 2 months. I have replaced both knock sensors, the harness under the intake, and sent the computer back to Ed Wright. I have had the intake off 3 times to check the wiring and I have had the car into the mechanic and nothing is fixing this problem. The mechanic checked the wiring and said it is a problem in the pcm but I sent it to Ed he put it in his car and said the light didn't turn on so he sent my pcm back. I have followed the steps in the Helms manual and everything is checking out up to the pcm. The light comes on every few days in no set time frame and then goes off after a few days.

Re: HELP! PO327 & PO332 Knock sensor . I'm over my head here, but I understand how you feel, and maybe I can help a little, but I doubt it. I have just one code (P0332), that I hope will be solved by changing the knock sensors. Since you have two codes the problem is most likely not the sensors (what are the chances of both sensors going at the same time), and the harness, too, since you replaced that. I was wondering if there was any way you could check where the knock sensor system connects to the pcm. That seems to be all that is left. Maybe if you looked at a schematic of the pcm you could find where the ks system ties in. You've probably been through that already, but I just thought it was worth mentioning. I'd like to hear what the solution is once you get it solved. Hang in there.

Re: HELP! PO327 & PO332 Knock sensor . That is how my problems started. I got the Po327 code for knock sensor 1 so we replaced it. A few days later I got a code PO327 and PO332. I have checked the harness and I get a reading at the plug for the pcm. Red side if I remember right? The 2 sensors are directly across from each other on the harness plug. Like I said I even had a mechanic look at it and he says it is a problem in the pcm. I told Ed this but he 99.9% sure it isn't in the pcm. I sent it to him and he said he would put it in his car and drive it around to see if it threw a code. It didn't. It usually take a 2-3 days of driving around to get it to come on. I think he just put it in ,took it around the block and pulled it out. I did not even get an explanation of what he had found when my pcm came back. Not very professional service in my opinion but I could be wrong.

What did the mechanic recommend if he thinks it's the pcm? I know you don't want to replace the pcm, and neither would I. Any warranty left?

Re: HELP! PO327 & PO332 Knock sensor . I got an email from Ed today. He turned the knock sensor test parameters up some. He was not able to find any problem in the pcm. I unfortunately just went out of warranty. I really didn't have one anyways because of my mods. I took it to the dealer when I first started having this problem and they would not even look at it. I am going to have to live with it I guess because I am all out of ideas.

Re: HELP! PO327 & PO332 Knock sensor . Jim, have you washed your engine since replacing the knock sensors and harness? I think my ks went bad because I got water under the intake. If that's not a possibility, then it sounds like a bad pcm, but Ed says it's okay. . .hmmm. If it was me, I'd probably buy a new pcm, and hope for the best. At the very least, you'd know what you got for a pcm: an untouched stock pcm, plus you wouldn't have to wonder about Ed's programming possibly messing up the pcm you have now. IMHO.

Re: HELP! PO327 & PO332 Knock sensor . I appreciate your comments. I don't think the wire in piched under the intake because I have had it off 3 times in the last 2 months. As far as the water goes. I don't think that is the problem because everything is working up to the pcm. I would switch pcm's but I have custom tuning for my mods. If I put a stock one back in I really will start seeing the SES light due to not having rear o2's, no EGR, no AIR pump, etc.

Re: HELP! PO327 & PO332 Knock sensor . Hey Jim, I thought of something. I remember someone saying that his knock sensor wires were getting pinched under the manifold. He said he filed a groove for each wire to fit into and the SES light went away. Something to think about. Maybe whoever reinstalled the manifold wasn't super careful where the wires were situated.

I have NEVER had a SES light problem before Ed Wrights programming!! I get my PCM back and within 10 min of driving it I get a SES light on for A knock sensor P0327. I reset it then wouldn't see it for a few more days then boom it comes on again for the same thing.Then one time it came on for the A.I.R. pump.And he deleted all AIR codes so that has me wondering.I also put new knock sensors in and it still comes on for the same code..P0327.
So my friend has a 98' also with Ed Wrights tuning, so I put his pcm in my car and its running awsome! And no codes now for the past week of driving with his pcm in my car.Only thing is with his car he had Ed turn off the knock sensors.And Ed has my pcm now and also said he would try it out in his car to see it set off codes.If it don't my only other option is to turn off the sensors so i don't get the codes.I don't care what Ed says,and I know my car and its never had a SES light problem like this,and within 10 min. of getting his tuning i get a SES light??? Sounds fishy to me!
Atleast i know i'm not the only one out there with this problem!

I hope I have the same luck.First off he never emailed me back to say he got it.Then I walk out the door today to find the Fed X lady there giving me a box that Ed over nighted back to me.He said I would have to pay for shipping to send it back to me if he didn't find nothing wrong.But he picked up the shipping and over nighted it.So maybe he did find something wrong and fixed it.I'll find out soon enough when I put it back in later.I'll keep you posted.

I think it might depend on what he told ed to do.In my case, I told him if he can't find a problem as to why its setting the code to turn my knock sensors off.I've never heard knock before,and knowing its not the safest thing to do,I just want the ses light off.Remember, the older cars didn't have knock sensors,and what did they do? hmmm. Just my .02 cents.
btw :with the pcm back, i put it in my car earlier and so far so good,i should know more in a few days.

Re: HELP! PO327 & PO332 Knock sensor . I told Ed exactly what I Told you all. As far as how he solved the problem I guess that will be Ed's little secret. I hate turning my computer over to someone else to tune but no one in Orlando can tune with Edit yet.

all i did was flash the new file and after a day i get the rear knock sensor, then the front, then the whole circuit, surely these 2 failures would not be so consecutive if it was due to fatigue..
this is 1500 miles after the motor install so any crimped wires would have shown up instantly..
im gong to have to get the dealer to reflash and star all over again i suppose.. any light on that?

Re: HELP! PO327 & PO332 Knock sensor . I haven't driven my car since i first put the pcm back in.Tomorrow i'm going to drive it and a-tap and see where my timing is.But I don't think i'll be much help because i told ed to put my timing at 30* WOT from 5000-7000.

Well all is good with my car and i have dead on 30* timing at 5000 rpms and thats what i asked for.And no SES lights either.Only probelm now is when he first programmed my car i told him to put my shift points at 6500 rpms and going through A-tap my car shifted at 6500 everytime.Now since I got it back its shifting at 6800!! Man, I tell ya.It's always something.
