LS1 Edit shift point questions
LS1 Edit shift point questions I have a 98 Z28 A4 with 3.23 gears and stock size tires. There is also a Vig 3200 stall converter and a TransGo shift kit installed. In LS1 Edit the stock shift points were set at 1-2 shift 34mph, 2-3 shift 74mph, 1-2 shift 6000 rpm, 2-3 shift 5800k rpm. These numbers were also reflected in the "Normal Mode Shift Speed" table for 100% TPS.
Well I want the shifts to take place at 6200rpm so I set the RPM to 6200 for the 1-2 and the 2-3 shifts and did not change any other values. Now the 1-2 shift takes place at 5800 - 5900 and the 2-3 happens at ~6100rpm - still low. I was using the HPP before Edit so I changed the values to how the HPP had the set which was +2 mph on the 1-2 shift and +1mph on the 2-3 shift and bumped the RPM shift points up by the corresponding increase in mph (1-2 at 6258rpm and 2-3 5969rpm). Now the 1-2 takes place at ~6000 and the 2-3 shifts at ~6150. I am OK with the 2-3 shift but the 1-2 is not working correctly.
My questions:
Does the 98 PCM support shifting at a specific RPM once the minimum MPH threshold has been reached or does it shift at a specific MPH after a minimum RPM has been reached?
Is the 3200 stall converter affecting the shift points?

Re: LS1 Edit shift point questions The new verison of the software supposedly requires both parameters to be met. I'd raise the mph by 1 or 2 and see if that cures it.
Adding a converter can change the shift points because the motor tends to rev a bit quicker.

I would still like to know for sure how this section in LS1 Edit works other than trial and error.
