Default Need help with a decision

Hey guys, here's my situation: before getting LS1 Edit, I was getting a code (P0332 KS low voltage) which indicates that I need to replace my knock sensor. I have two new knock sensors ready to install, but I've been using LS1 Edit and discovered that I could toggle off the DTCs P0325 (KS system) and P0332 (KS low voltage). BTW, there's no P0327 in the list. Anyway, since turning off those DTCs my SES light is gone, but the pcm isn't running KS tests which I think means that the knock sensors are inoperative now. I could leave my car like that, or go ahead and replace the knock sensors and then turn the DTCs back on. Am I stupid for driving my car with inoperative knock sensors, and should I go ahead and replace the defective KS, or am I okay with a bad KS leaving the system toggled off? Essentially, how important are knock sensors for an all bolt-on street car? If I'm risking my engine, at all, then I'll just pull the intake. Sorry so long. I'd appreciate any opinions. Thanks.

Man, it's difficult getting responses here. It's like there's a little clique that just responds to each other. What's the point, then, of having a public forum like this? It seems the whole idea of a forum like this is to freely exchange information and opinions with EVERYONE. There's this elitist element that always seems to exist on car forums for some reason. I visit different types of forums, not just car related, and I never see anything like this. What, if you don't drag race your car, and run the 1/4 in under 12 seconds, you're not worthy of a response? It's almost like being in high shool with all these little ******* cliques. My car's faster than yours, big ******* deal. Anyway, this has been bugging me for quite some time, and I needed to get it off my chest. Good luck to ya all, and don't blow a piston. Over and out.

Well I am from the old school. I would fix the problem and turn back on the knock sensors. They were put there for a reason and most of the time work fine. Maybe if there are certain mods that would set them off, you might want to turn them off. Mine is pretty much stock and I have never gotten this code before. If you fix the problem and turn them back on then if you do have a real problem you will know about it.

Hi guy. If it was me, I would try to replace the sensors ASAP. I wouldn't worry too much about normal driving until then, but I would be concerned about WOT blasts, especially if you guys up there are getting any kind of hot weather like we are. Plus you never know when you might load up on a tank of crappy gas. IMO

Thanks guys, I'm in the process of replacing my knock sensors as I write. I'm stuck at the moment trying to get the second bolt tightened on my egr block-off plate. I can't seem to get a wrench behind to hold the bolt while I tighten the nut. Anyway, after I get that done, I'll pull my intake and replace the knock sensors. I appreciate the responses. Thanks a bunch. Later.

I thought I would update you guys on my KS problem. I pulled off my intake and I saw right away that the valley was caked with a white looking corrosion, and it was wet under there, very wet actually. I pulled off the harness but pulled the wire out of the plastic clip to the knock sensor. So I just ordered a new harness from a local dealer (they're overnighting it for 34 dollars and change plus $7.00 shipping). I removed the front KS and it looked fine, but the rear one (DTC P0332) was wet, and the little white plastic thing, on the top of the KS was filled with brown, cruddy looking water. And that was my problem causing P0332.

The moral of this story for me is no more hosing off my engine. I don't drive my car in the rain, EVER, so I'm sure I got water under there washing the engine.
