Question about toggling Engine Diagnostic tests... Are there supposed to be any tests turned “off” in stock form? I’m trying to get all my tests back to an emissions compliant state from my base MTI LS1 Edit tune, and I’m not sure what all exactly they shut off. It seems that I have a lot of DTC tests toggled to off and I’m not sure if that’s how it was stock or if MTI turned them off.
So again, are any tests in an “off” state on a stock PCM?
And what happens if I turn a test "on" that is supposed to be off, but leave the MIL light as type X (off)? Will it cause issues?

Re: Question about toggling Engine Diagnostic tests... The DTC list you see in LS1 Edit covers ALL applications of the engine for the year that you have (F-body, Y-body, and truck). So tests that don't apply to your vehicle are indeed turned off. The best way to get it all back to stock is to either reflash a stock file to your PCM, or get the factory service maunal for your year of car. It lists all of the diagnostic tests that are active, and tells when or if the MIL comes on or not. I would think that turning all of the tests on, when some don't apply, could cause issues. The PCM could set codes that don't even apply to your vehicle.

Does Helms list what tests are active? I’ve never looked in there for that info before.

Re: Question about toggling Engine Diagnostic tests... Yes, all of the codes listed in a particular FSM are active for the vehicle covered unless it has an "X" status. You'll see those on the page where they compare a domestic federal emissions car with a leaded fuel export. The export car will have most of the emissions DTC's set to "X". It's a pretty neat comparison, and all on one page.

Also, I copied to disk some of the stock PCM files for my model year from ChrisB’s site. I will look at them and see what the codes are set to just for further reference.
