EASE scans observations
I was looking through some of my latest scans and wanted to verify my MAFT settings since I did it about 8 months ago.
I have the following mods on a 2000TA:
SLP LT headers w/cats
SLP Loudmouth
home ported MAF - removed fins and screen
EGR mod
LS1 Motorsports lid
K&N filter
MAFT
Taylor Thundervolt 10.5 wires and NGK TR-55's
ASP underdrive pulley
vertical PVC mod
I do not exactly remember what my MAFT is set at....I only know I needed more adjustment than the average bear..Probably due to my porting the MAF.
I noticed that some of my WOT runs are right on the money with O2's hovering either side of .09 (lil' rich) and WOT Ltrims hovering around 0. Around town driving Ltrims are + or - up to 6.
But it seems to depend on what I was doing right before a WOT run as to how the readings go down....Like running in 5th gear on the highway and stomping the go petal...with or without a downshift. Or pulling away from a stoplight like a normal driver....
I realize we are going for average readings in the proper FTC's so don't think I'm micro-teching the data....just looking for patterns..
On occasion I will see up to 4* KR on one run then nothing on another....or some misfire at times.
One of the biggest things I noticed is that at ~20% throttle and below I run 0 to -5 LTrims and then they go into the positive somewhere after 20% throttle....But my averages look good....seems to me to be a function of the MAFT and its limitations???
And the KR....when it rears its ugly head, seems to show up in the higher gears at high RPM's.
If ping is the sound you hear when putting the engine in 5th at low speeds (Lifer rattle) then I know I do not have ping when doing WOT runs.
I also know weather conditions will play a part..I try to keep tabs on the baro pressure/OAT and humidity but haven't logged this data along with my traces.
I feel the car runs very well....the KR concerns me as does the misfire....But it is not consistant except to say the misfire seems to have mostly gone away with the warmer weather. KR is hit and miss but mostly gone with the arrival of spring/summer. Haven't been able to track these things to any particular reason.
I have a notion to set the MAFT base one more click to see if the overall Ltrims (and O2's) come down a bit more...but I know I am almost at its adjustment limit now!! Probable better to get MAF stock ends and see...or a Pace 80mm MAF.
I don't know exactly where I am going with this post....just throwing out my observations for comment, I guess. And if I seem to have misperceptions feel free to set me straight.... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
