for those who have looked at this and are wondering whats new. well the problem fixed itself. i think the IAT sensor mod screwed with it a little too much. but i turned the car on tonight and drove it and its reading perfectly fine now......kinda odd because i did reset the PCM yesterday and it didnt fix itself. but the car was off from 11 last night till 9 tonight. guess my car can fix itself eh?????

Default Need tech help......

ok gang, 02 TA 19,000 miles. I turn on the car the coolant temp gauge goes to normal operating temp. then after a few second maybe 10 it will drop and read zero even if ive been driving for a hour or so. i dont have a 160 stat or anything like that. i tried the IAT sensor mod the night before and it worked then. took out the mod. reset everything to normal and reset the PCM. any ideas? im gonna take it to pontiac if i cant solve this myself. im thinking the coolant temp sensor is shot already for some dumb reason.

It sounds like you have a bad temp sensor/sender, or a bad connection.

I *THINK* that the coolant temp sender is located on the drivers-side head towards the front. It is a little brass connection with a plug, that gets in your way when you are intalling the #1 plug and wire. Might want to check this connection and make sure that it isn't loose, or one of your wires isn't burnt.

Most likely, this behaviour will return one day if it is the sensor.

Good Luck
