First LS1Edit session....
I tried to download the stock programming off one notebook and it didn't work (my fault, somehow the COM port was disabled). SO I had another that worked. When I downloaded the stock programming the first time, AOK. But I found that the 5th gear RPM limiter was 9000 rpm, so I downloaded a second time. Download takes ~10-15minutes.
Second download, freaked the car out. No instruments. I tried to pull the two PCM fuses 19&23? (PCM Reset produre) but that DOESN'T work. Like RB said, you HAVE to disconnect the battery.
So, I edited. You use a different program to Edit. I got a "Blue Windows Death Screen" when I launched the program, but it worked anyways.
I changed RPM limiter to 6900 using both neutral and "Gear Table" method. I reduced the fan temps to 194-185/184-175. I increased timing table to 26 deg from 3600 RPM up and airflow .52 and higher (1-4 deg). I also zero'd out the IAT retard table.
Now I was ready to write. Back to the first program.
The copy protection is apparently written to your cars ECM. So you can download off any car, but to write you must acknowledge that you want to lock it to your car. Simple enough, and far easier than SuperChips or custom tuning.
Uploading takes 3-5 minutes. Went REAL smooth.
Now to test. 3 AM and 400+ HP!!! It don't get better than this.
I hook up AutoTap, and drive down the road until up to 175 water temp. Then I nail it in 3rd gear from 20mph to 106mph. I bet this car would do a 14 second 1/4mi in 3rd gear alone.
I did a simulated 1/4 pass as well. Car threw a Throttle Sensor Communication code, but went away after I reset codes in AutoTap.
Verdict? No KR at 26 deg timing at WOT on crappy 91 octane. But it was 67 deg outside. Limiter was right at 6900. Car feels like it has more torque from 4000+.
Instructions are weak, but overall, I give this product a 7.
Faults? Weak instructions, car freaks out sometimes when read.
Ease of use? Good for someone with basic fuel injection and timing knowledge.
So far, I glad I got it.
MILLER TIME!!!
