Default MAFT and trans line pressure

I'm currently running very rich at idle and the lower rpm range and I was wondering how much trans line pressure would be effected if I leaned out the base 5-10% just for normal driving? I would return the base back to 0 for when I went to the track. I'm just trying to hold on to the stock trans as long as possible. Would this small adjustment just for normal crusing hurt anything?

thanks,
Steve

I dont have the exact numbers anymore but I used to run my MAFT about 20% lean because of the larger injectors/stock program and lost quite a bit of line pressure. Enough to make the trans go into 'overheat' 2nd gear only mode after only two passes. I ended up rigging up a hobbs switch to ground the wire to the PCM so it would go full line pressure at boost. Worked fine after that.

I dont think 10% would hurt - depending on power output of course. If you a HPP3 just up the firmness higher to make up for it..

Everything is relative - will it decrease line pressure? Yes. Will that hurt? yes. Now are we talking a 10 mile difference in tranny life or 1000 miles? I don't really know. - my point is it's all relative.

The ideal solution would be to get LS1 Edit and bump your line pressure back up. You could also install a shift kit, etc. to achieve the same effect.

You might also consider installing a tranny pressure guage - this would let you observe directly what is occurring.
