Default 1998 PCM change out to what ?

I have a Twin Turbo 1998 car and stock PCM/harness (modified with hpTuners). use MAF (up to the point where MAF is maxed out)
then guessing fuel supply.
result 1030rwtq and 826 rwhp.

But i need to go in another direction, and i know BS3 etc. could do magic.
But its a street car and i want to keep all instrument and rest of electronic in car .

Can i splice in a 2002 PCM and keep all other things working ?

a 2002 PCM would give me 3 bar SD tuning

TIA
Rune

I don't have a monster like you do but, I am looking forward to getting where you are now. So far from what I have discovered yes you could obtain the wiring diagrams for the 98 and 2000+ and open up the wiring harness and swap the pins (out of the 180 total I don't know yet how many). The guys at SpeedInc. told me that the two they have done had "issues" with the fuel gage and asr. Seems that anything is possible.

I woiuld just get a 02 pcm and all the wiring harness to go with it, seems to be the easiest route. Email allen@nelsonperformance.com, he has harnesses for custom aps like that and can customize the lengths to whatever you need for a bit extra.

I thought the engine wiring harness was the same from 99 to 02? You should be able to find any 99 to 02 harness in a junk yard or maybe order a new 300.00 one from GM....

It is going to be work, but switching the order of every wire sounds like more work to me.

Thanks Doc and Chris for your input.
So if i understand you guys correctly i could

a) splice in a new 2002 PCM into my harness, alot of work but can be done and "maybe" have issues with fuel gauge and asr ?

b) Get a complete new harness 2002 AND 2002 PCM and swap out ?
would all the connectors etc. towards the rest of the car work ?

I will email Speartech who helped us out in the past with a few rod project and the guy suggested by Chris

Thanks for your time and input

There will be issues with ASR as it uses a different communication protocol to "talk" to the PCM between 1998 and 1999+

What is ASR, is that part of BCM ?
What practical effect would it have ?

TIA

Traction control, sounds like you don't have it.

It is traction control and it is part of the ABS module.

FYI : ABS/TCS is a masked ROM ecu and therefore you can not change any software or calibrations in it.
