Default Disabling low oil level sensor(99 vette)

I have my motor out right now and while the old one was in i had that low oil level dummy light come on. Oil has never been low since i owned my car. Will crossing the two wires that go to the sensor complete the circuit and never have to worry about that light again? There were a couple wires that go to that d@mn thing that were kinda melted so i am planning on just going as far back to the computer as i can and crossing them...

Yep, just connect them together, and the light will be out.
(as long as one isn't broken somewhere further up the line...)
