? about LS1 Edit cables.... I do not have a lap top that I can run edit on and was wondering if I could read and program my car with a RS-232 extension cable from my desk top.
Has anyone tried this? Is there any reason why this will not work?

Re: ? about LS1 Edit cables.... Yes, you can use a long serial cable, but I don't think I would go over 20'... Just make sure it can go through an entire read prosess before trying to program it.

Re: ? about LS1 Edit cables.... The cable that comes with LS1Edit is about 10 feet in length (6' RS232, 4' OBDII).
You can stick a 10' extension on there (DB9 Female / DB9 Male), but that's the farthest I'd go. RS232 specs say that you can go farther, but the software communicates with the interface at a fast data rate (56k, I believe), and they do get concerned about data errors.
