MAF ends causing ping at low engine speeds?

MAF ends causing ping at low engine speeds? I'm using a set of polished open MAF ends on an unmodified MAF sensor; within a small window between 1500-1800RPM at part throttle under a load, I notice audible ping and between 4-9 degrees of KR. If I open the throttle completely or move the tach out of this range, the knock goes away. From a logged Autotap run, I noticed that my LTrims decrease a few percentage-points in this window of knock.
I suspect a MAF issue; possibly too much unmetered air or maybe a resonance issue with the descreened MAF. Has anyone else experienced this and is it recommended I switch back to stock screened MAF ends?

Re: MAF ends causing ping at low engine speeds? I would try the descreened stock ends. Most cars don't have a problem with that. I am running a descreened 85mm MAF on my setup.
FYI descreening the 85mm MAF was worth about 30CFM on the flowbench...
