I would like to introduce myself. My name is Chris and I'm one of the many techs at PDQ Performance. We are DiabloSports largest distributor & supplier. We have been with them since day one and we know their product better than anyone else. The Predator is a new product that will take the "hand held" programmer to a new higher level. We will be try to be part of this forum as much as possible. We are in the process of working it into our daily schedule, which may take some time. So if we do not answer any questions right away, please give us at least a couple days to respond. As far as your question...the Predator is just about to be released. We are in the final stage and expect it to release within the next few days.

Good timing I almost order a laptop yesterday for A-tap and LS1 Edit...I think I'll wait now and see what Predator can actually do in the real world.

I'm interested in knowing what the Predator can do...WITHOUT custom tunes from DiabloSport. How much can just the unit itself do with a stock program?

I'm sorry, it has taken a while to answer your questions...but here goes.

1. Can Predator cut off the CAT over temp feature? With the Predator, you will not be able to make this change yourself. However, that feature can be included in the Predator before the item is sent to you.

2. Can Predator tune specific points in the rpm range? Like lean out from 5,000 rpm to 6,500 rpm but leave the rest of the rpm range alone? The Predator allows you to make a fuel/timing change to baseline. You will not be able to lean/richen at a specific rpm. However, DiabloSport will offer that in a custom program.

3. Can this thing adjust the idle? The first release of the Predator will not have the feature of allowing you to adjust idle. However, it will become a feature in the future. When this becomes available, you will be able to update your previously purchased Predator.

How much will these custom programs cost. And how is that going to work, will I tell you what mods I have and you will tune for that or can I log a run w/Predator and send to you.

Custom programming will be $120. We have a custom order form that you fill out and this will give us all the information we'll need to custom design a program for your car and its modifications. Ok, it looks like we'll have some Predators early next week (Tues/Wed.). We are just getting a handful of units for some field testing. I would like to know whether anyone here is interested. The unit will need to be purchased (at special discounted price). The type of vehicles we're looking for are: stock & one with minor modifications (also manual and auto). If anyone is interested, please send us an email or give us a call. We will need to know your on-line user name and member number when you call. Our decision will be made on Tuesday as to who we will ship the Predators to. We suspect, as in the past, the Predator will work awesome and expect an immediate release shortly after (within 10 days of test units).

On another note. We have several hundreds on order and will be the first in the country to have the Predators available for purchase. As mentioned before, we will offer an introductory special price for the Predator for LS1tech members that will be very hard to pass up. We are taking orders now. Friday is dyno day with the programmer. We have two programmers to test with. I will be testing one for a 02 GMC 5.3. These are the first ones out for testing. I will post the HP numbers on my website...

We would like to thank all those who have responded to our last post. We have decided on a few vehicles and despite guiness2's message, we have sent out a few Predators. They should be in the hands of the vehicle owners by Thursday.
I have been playing with the Predator on my Escalade and it's awesome. It's very cool going in and making the changes it allows me to. I suspect the few that we have sent out will work just as easy and good as mine does. If so, like I mentioned earlier, we will be shipping the Predators out early-mid next week.

Is it true there is a delay on the 99 Firebirds? If so, what is causing the delay? TIA <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

 

There is a delay for the 99 Firebirds. The reason is because DiabloSport hasn't been able to get their hands on that particular model. They want the performance file they offer for that car to be specific for that car...not a "retuned" 00 program. This way you will get the best results possible. Hopefully we will see something soon.

OK guys here is some starting points on the diablo programmer. I was at a dyno testing session and was impressed at the numbers. We found some qwerks that needed to be ironed out but this thing looks like a great option compared to LS1 Edit. Check this post out

Well, it has taken a while...but you know as the saying goes..."good things
come to those who wait". The DiabloSport Predator is HERE!! We have them
in stock and are ready to ship. We don't expect these to last (in fact most of
them have already been presold). But we do have hundreds more that will be
