Default LS1edit vs. HPP3 vs. Diablo

Being more a mechanic than computer wiz, which of the programming tools is easiest to operate and yet provides the best tunability? does the HPP3 really tune anything or just set fan temps and stuff like that? LS1 edit needs a laptop, which i have but i hear a novice "tuner" can really f**k his car up. Can you just simply reset the stock programming if you F it up? the performance shopi am working with kows the edit quite well, but i am looking for the time now and future-when i am no longer stationed here, will i be able to use it and grow with it as i expect my car to grow with me? What the hell is an LTrim etc...Are the manuals pretty clear? Obviously i know i can always hop on here and get the answers so i am leaning toward the edit, but the diablo sounds promising-doesn/t it???

Yeah, i'm wondering the same thing. For an M6 car, does the HPP3 really do anything?

Hey guys,
I'm no expert seeing as how I have none of the three programers, but I do a lot of reading so here's what I've picked up....

The hypertech is pretty much worthless for an M6 car. You can do fans and gears and use their "tune" program but it really doesn't do anything. I know nothing about the diablo - still doing the reading on that - but seems more promising than th hypertech.

LS1edit is the best because you can do everything. However since you can do everything, that means you can mess things up to. I believe the manuals pretty much suck for Edit - check www.carputing.com and I believe you can download the manuals and check them out. I am no tuning expert or anything, but by reading all these boards and stuff I think you can surely pick up enough to tune correctly. The way I look at it, Edit costs $550, but if you pay someone to program your car more than once, you have allready paid of a copy of edit for yourself. I would go with edit just because I plan on doing mods at seperate times and I will need to delete codes or turn off ses lights, but don't need major reprograming.

Hope some of that stuff makes sense and helps.

I'd like to know more about the Diablo. They are obviously a sponsor, do they have any reps that post here? On there web site they compare it's OBDII diagnostic capabilities to the Tech II. I have worked with the Tech II and it's a great tool. But you also get tuning and engine monitoring functions as well. Does anyone have any first-hand knowledge of this equipment??

Since my last post, I found a TON of info on the Diablo on that "other" board.

I too have read a lot about HPP3, not as much good as I would like. Which is no doubt why so many buy them and sell them in these classifieds! On the Diablo, I thought a rep was monitoring these pages as well, Chris if I remember right. Anyway, I was under the impression someone already had possession and could offer input on it. As for Edit, I will DL the manual and check that out 2nite. but how much it will do for me i wonder, without explaining ltrim and all the other acronyms foreign to my old carb tuning *ss. I have a 2000 Z28, A4, descreened MAF, EGR mod, K&N FIPK, and a lil Yank No tuning to it yet. I plan on adding MAC's w/ ORY & either Corsa or GMMG catbacks, and much others but over time and need a system flexible for such growth. Anyone else? tm. Charlie.
