Help troubleshoooting codes...
I just got back from autozone, and my car is throwin codes P0171 ( Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 1 ) and P0174 ( Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 2 ). My car is a 98, almost 54,000 miles. Ive replaced the fuel filter, O2 sensors, and the spark plugs, and I have tried a few bottles of injector cleaner too, still no luck. What else should I look into? The car is stock with the exception of the whoppin 3 mods in the sig. The codes were there before the mods too, so Im pretty sure its not because of the mods. I appreciate any imput. Thanks in advance.

It sounds like a possible vacuum leak. Somewhere air is entering the engine without being metered. Check to see if the Mass Air Flow sensor is sitting in the lid correctly and not letting air sneak in. Since its a 98 also check to see if the EGR is not leaking where it meets the manifold(its a common known problem).

You need a scan tool of some sorts to see whats going on, bad o2's ,vacuum leaks, low fuel pressure etc. Whatever it is the pcm sees a lean biased o2 on #1 Banks ,there are quite a few posibilitys.

Re: Help troubleshoooting codes...
Well, I checked the EGR today, seemed a little loose, so when I went to tighten it, I ended up stripping it So I got that fixed. If I think that was the problem, do I need to reset the computer? or will the light turn off by itself when the problem no longer exists?

If that was the problem, it will fix itself after 100 or so miles of driving with no problems. Or you could disconnect the battery for five minutes.
