ATAP: reads cars operating systems and gives you a idea what you need to tune
EDIT: lets you tune what you found with on atap that may be off a little or not to your liking.
you need atap to see what the car is doing to use EDIT to fix it
after editing you need to atap and see if it fixed or helped the problems
bascially you need both.. one reads car and the other programs

Re: LS1 edit and Autotap Absolutely. They are completely different, and complementary, to each other.
LS1Edit - is an EDITING program. It does not scan engine parameters while the motor is running.
AutoTap is a SCAN TOOL program. It cannot change anything in your PCM (spark fuel etc).
So, they are totally different, yet you need some sort of scan tool to monitor the impact of any changes you make with edit.
