Default Question about some codes

I have a couple of questions about some codes. Some times for some odd reason when I am driving my ABS INOP light comes on you go to push the brakes and it acts stupid. Also my brake light will come an sometimes also along with the lowtrac light. The lowtrac light will come on going around corners. Is there some kind of sensor that could be bad on the rearend causing this?

It sounds like a bad brake control module.

I had to have my EBCM replaced under warranty. If failed 100% in the driveway if you can believe it. The truck had to be towed because the "BRAKE" lite came "ON" and stayed "ON" which is a condition for towing the vehicle. If you get just the ABS lite you can drive the vehicle. You just won't have the ABS feature, but if the "BRAKE" lite stays "ON" your in danger of losing your primary brake system. That's Fred Flintstone time! There is also a RECALL on the front brake lines which you should have done on warranty as well. Once you have these two repairs made your problem will probably be solved. A lot of trucks have had this ABS EBCM failure. I havn't had anymore problems since the repairs were made. Just glad it was a warranty repair because the modules usually cost over $1,000.00 each and there are 4 or 5 different modules on each vehicle.

Are you running really different size tires front and back? Like runners in the front and ET streets in back? Dissimiliar size tire will spin at different speeds throwing off the abs sensor.

More than likely you have chaffed/damaged one of the ABS sensor wires.

The wires up front are notorious for this. They travel along the lower a-arm member to the caliper. They have a bad habit of falling off and getting rubbed by the tire.

Your car, because the connection is boofed, falsly thinks that it has poor traction. When you hit the brakes your ABS and traction control is kickin in which will cause the car to grab one direction, or shake.

Check each one of the wires for the ABS system. I believe there is one for each wheel up front, and only one wire going to the diff in the back (I'm not sure about that though so you'll have to check)

Good Luck,
Kevin
