02SilverWS6, I was just going to ask the same question ... I borrowed the previous version of it and it sucked. It was very hard to setup ... this new version looks promising.

Horist, did you get the previous version or this Competition Version ?

I know the track is the best place, but the track around here closes this week!! Any more feedback?

Mine was the previous version, after reading the info on this new version it looks pretty good... even if it says you're runing 14.5 in the 1/4 and you really run 12.9 , so long as it's constantly off by the same amount it could be a pretty valuable tuning tool...

Damn... another thing to buy now heh

So many gadgets to buy, not enough $$ ! You can even download your info. to your PC to store/plot your data. I'm waiting to hear back from anyone who has it or has used it.

that new unit looks cool, i have the old unit and it is extremly acurate, the people that slam them don't know how to use them and it looks like the new unit is easier than the old one to use.

i used mine at the track and it was never more than .05 sec off from what the time slip said and gtech explains why the mph is off. gtech gives you the actual mph at the very end of the 1/4 mile where at the track you get your average mph over the last 66ft. i really want one of those new ones but i would also like a real wide band o2 sensor too, i need to rob a bank of something.

Wow, .05 sec off is excellent! Maybe the new one is more accurate?!! I hope. Maybe the G-Tech Competition is a gadget I can invest in. I can't lose, they said I can try it for 30 days and return it if I don't like it.

Anyone else...?

One of my co-workers just got his last weekend. He said that it's extremely easy to setup compared to the last one (he has that one too). It has 3-axis accelerometer which makes it more accurate. He's going to test it out this week and let me know how it goes. He's willing to let me borrow it for a while so I can test it out. I will post any feedback once this happens. But for now, it looks promising

i was on a freshly paved road, flat, in my old bonneville, G-tech gave me a 17.17 and 17.20 1/4 mile times.

at the track, the 2 times i ran it, 17.15 and 17.18

not too bad, the mph was about 3 mph high both times.

I didnt buy it,a friend had one, and i was just playing around with it, ran the car at the track, just to see how accurate the g-tech was.

Ryan.

The topic is G-Tech Competition, but how good is it in the other features it has? Given that 1/4 mile is accurate, what about hp, tq, g's and so on...thanks for all the help!!!

Granted that it's accurate at the track. What about hp, tq, lateral g's and so on?

Thanks for your help!

G-Tech told me as long as there are no hills at all and you are on level ground, they vouch for their accuracy

In regards to the RPM signal .. I was told by my co-worker who has this, that you first have to calibrate the G-tech by reving your car at 2K, then 4K, and then 6K... the G-tech will pick up the vibration at each interval and from there it will know the RPMs of the vehicle ..

I have the old GTech. I used it extensively on my '86 Mustang GT as I was learning how to effectively launch the car. It was awesome! It was within .02 at the track, unbelievably accurate. Those people who say its junk simply have not mounted it correctly, it must be level. The trap speed is always high though, I used to run ~ 107 MPH according to that, my Mustang ran a best of 100.74 MPH according to Englishtown.

the new one you don't have to mount level, it calibrates for how ever you have it mounted but you still need to be on a flat road, if you have and doubts on the flatness of the road you can just make a return pass in the oposite direction.
