What do you know about LS1 timin tables?
I was wondering why timing curves in the LS1 PCM are so different than any other motors, and wondering if it had anythign to do with the lack of low end orque compared to the LT1. Physically, the longer stroke of the LS1 by conventional thinking would make you think it would have more torque

Re: What do you know about LS1 timin tables?
I think there are a couple reasons for our wild tables.
1) GM put alot of R&D into the LS1 brain. For a stock car, you really can't get better than the stock timing tables. Just ask 50% of the people out there that have lost power with their hypertech. Not true for many other cars / engines out there where beating the factory settings is a cinch.
2) Peak combustion efficiency (read: power and EMMISSIONS) is achieved with ideal timing at all engine points. I think with the increased legal pressure in emmissions, we are going to start seeing many many performance cars coming out with "funy" timing tables in which it is imperitive to obtain the absolute best timing at part-throttle conditions to help in meeting emmissions standards.
