A4 to T56 Conversion

What do I need to do to update the computer on my 1998 LS1 Trans Am to make it work right going from automatic to manual?

You need to get your PCM reflashed which your local dealership should be able to do.

Yes, any dealer can do it... From what I understand unless you know someone, they have big problems in putting a different VIN in the computer of your Car.. The only way they can change the code is by using a VIN from a vehicle with the M6 in that year... If you need it changed, I have a programmer and I have no qualms about doing it... I can only do stock so far...

Thanks guys, but does it have to be the same year to use the vin number to re flash it?

For a 98, yes. They used a different PCM/wiring harness than 99+. The programming is also different.

Good luck. I did the opposite (M6-A4) over a year ago. The swap is pretty straight-forward.
