EFILIVE/HPPT3/LS1EDIT
HPP is OK if you just want "plug and play" with no control over your tuning. I'm planning to get LS1 Edit next year.

thanks that is what i was thinking, so how many times can we rewrite the epom? anyone know?
and does anyone know how much better autotap EFILIVE is over LS1 Edit? i do know that you cant do logs and montoring with Ls1.. but other then that i did not see any diff's....

G.M quit using E-proms starting in 1996 which from then till present uses flash memory.
Its not the Program that gets changed, it is the calibration tables that also reside in part of the flash.
The flash can be overwritten many times, I use my car as a testbed and have flashed it at least 25 times with no problems.
Older cars using an E-prom chip can be erased and overwritten but when I do a custom tunes for older cars being a blank e-prom is only a few dollars I use a new e-prom just to be safe.
LS1edit is the ONLY product that allows you to change many functions in the PCM and their values, the black box types you mention only allow minor changes and give little ability for you to dicate what the values will be.

Also it is a scan tool of sorts. LS-1 Edit is a tool used for making permanent changes to the pcm. "can be changed as often as you want" and will stay in the PCM untill you reflash it with changes. But It will not tell you whats going on with the car, you would need a scan tool like auto-tap or EFILIVE5 for that or even TechII scanner.
