exactly .... it overwrites the program in the prom.

HPP is OK if you just want "plug and play" with no control over your tuning. I'm planning to get LS1 Edit next year.

Its not the Program that gets changed, it is the calibration tables that also reside in part of the flash.

The flash can be overwritten many times, I use my car as a testbed and have flashed it at least 25 times with no problems.

Older cars using an E-prom chip can be erased and overwritten but when I do a custom tunes for older cars being a blank e-prom is only a few dollars I use a new e-prom just to be safe.

LS1edit is the ONLY product that allows you to change many functions in the PCM and their values, the black box types you mention only allow minor changes and give little ability for you to dicate what the values will be.

correction 1994 & 1995 are flash as well... 1993 was the last year for the eprom or chip

Also it is a scan tool of sorts. LS-1 Edit is a tool used for making permanent changes to the pcm. "can be changed as often as you want" and will stay in the PCM untill you reflash it with changes. But It will not tell you whats going on with the car, you would need a scan tool like auto-tap or EFILIVE5 for that or even TechII scanner.

sorry protuner i missed your reply but that, is what i need to know... you hit it right on... so
i should be able to turn off the speed limiter as long as the program is running, but shut it down and the setting goes back to on... whitch is the problem i was having.

so guys with that cleard up and thanks for all your wisedom. would it be safter to test the new settings with EFILive and test the car. then use LS1 Edit to complete the tune? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Here is a list of the controls that EFILiveV5 supports: EFILiveV5 controls
