Default Knock Problems...WTF!!!

Ever since i installed my S1 heads/cam i noticed when my torque converter locks up in 4th the engine makes a chugging sound. Almost sounds like when you bog a stick car. Well tonight i decided to A-tap it to see whats going on. Well when i give it gas when the converter is locked up in 4th i get 5* to 6* of knock and the motor sounds like its bogged down!!! I dumped 5% more fuel in at BASE with the translator and it still knocks. It never did it before. Even after you hit it and the converter unlocks i still get 2.5* of knock. But 2 months ago I A-Tapped it at WOT up to 6,400 rpm and had no knock. Anyone have any ideas? This is really strange. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" />

The first thing to do is to determine if the KR is real or false. If it still does it when running %100 unleaded race gas then it's false.

One other thing i noticed is when my car is cold my voltage gauge will show around 16 volts. Then as the car runs for awhile the gauge will drop to 13 volts. I have the ASP crank pulley only. So either my gauge is wacky or maybe my alternator is going. I doubt this has anything to do with my KR problem. But i just wanted to post that as well. I'm starting to think i got myself a lemon. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

That's normal. All three of my F-bodies have done that. Don't know why.

Let us know when you find out if the KR is real or not.

Thanks Colonel,

There's a good chance my problem could be the custom tuning. When I had my S2heads and Tr224 cam installed in March I had Ed Wright do the tuning. Well now I have S1 heads with stock valves and a 216/220 cam. Now that I have EDIT I might use my spare PCM and try my own tuning. I'll see if i still get KR the same way I am now. I'm also checking all the spark plugs, the coils, and the injectors. I want to slove this problem soon just incase I get the urge to install some boost. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
