Car started stalling this morning...
Oh... car is 2000 SS, M6, regular bolt-ons, no headers, Comp XE 218/.563/114 cam, 918s, Comp pushrods.
You drive this car everyday, correct? And yesterday it didn't do this at all? Any significant changes in the weather?
I'd wait a few driving cycles to see if an SES light shows up. If not and the problem is still there I'd reset the PCM and do the idle relearn.
Some codes don't set right away. In a few more driving cycles you may have a code. I guess you don't have a diagnostic scanner?

They hooked up the scanner and: No codes stored. To answer your questions... yes the car is my only one and a daily driver in all weather. The weather has been quite cold and snowy, but today it is above freezing. The car has behaved perfectly since mid-October when I did the cam swap. (3000+ miles since then) No hiccups, stalling, smoking, weird noises or ANYTHING. (all with stock programming and undrilled TB blade) I was suprised as anything when it stalled. I was really concerned when it stalled again and again. It is trying not to stall..... is is hunting for idle for a second or two and then it dies.
You know.... I did get a new tank of gas last night... maybe I got bad fuel? Ran good after the fill-up.
Your problem sounds like a typical cam with no tune.
If it has been really cold since your cam install, the stock tune may have worked. If it has warmed up recently, and your car suddenly started dying, you may need tuning.
The stock IAC tables admit more air for colder weather. As it warmed up, you may have dropped to a portion of the IAC table that admits less air causing your car to truly run like a cammed car with no tuning.

I was driving in mid 70s weather the week after it went in..... no problems. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
Try unplugging your IAC servo on the MAF. If the car holds it's idle fine with it unplugged, then I would look for two things MAF or Vacuum.
Check your MAF wires, get some contact cleaner and see if that helps.
Check the tubes on your intake.
Good Luck,
Kevin

Kevin

Started with the exam of the MAF and it looked ok. I poked around the intake manifold and everthing looked solid. However, when I was re-assembling the airbox/maf assembly I noticed a 1" tear in my bellows on the bottom side. I am using the "Baker" silicone hose instead of the stock accordion one and I guess it split yesterday while I was driving. I replaced it with the stock piece and lo and behold: PROBLEM SOLVED. I didn't think a little un-metered air would cause a problem like that , but I guess it did because I am stall free now. Thanks for your suggestions and help Colonel and NoGo!
