Default HOW TO CHECK IAC OPERATION

I had a problem with what seems to be a surging idle a couple months ago. I believe the Colonel mentioned to clean the IAC solenoid, which I did, seems like it helped a tad. But, it still has a unsteady, almost rythmatic surging when idling in gear. Can really notice it when in park. Tried the idle relearn a couple times for different reasons, no change. This started rather out of the blue not after any parts change or anything. Also, checked wires, changed plugs and stuff, no change. Is there any way to check the IAC, voltmeter, Autotap, Autozone maybe, whatever???

Mods in sig, TIA for any help.

Charlie.

Default Re: HOW TO CHECK IAC OPERATION

I had the same problem. I bought a 4.7 resister from radio shack and pluged it into the wires. This bypasses the broken AIC piece. The 4.7 resister makes the computer think the air is at a certain temp( the right AI temp for the LS1) i did that and i havent had a problem since. the resisters are like 2 bucks if that.

EDIT: i found out it was the AIC when i plugged a friends into my car and it was fixed.
