Some confusion about file editing with LS1edit...help needed
After reading the manual from CARPUTING I am somewhat confused .... I wish to understand how to access a file and flash the PCM. Do you need a generic file first to manipulate that you flash your PCM with or can you use LS1edit to copy the original file from your PCM onto your PC for alteration and then download the changes back to the PCM as the downloaded instructions are somewhat confusing on this point ??? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

The first thing that you need to do with ls1edit is make a copy of your stock PCM file. This is done using the "Read PCM" function. Then you will need to save that file somewhere where it will not get touched. Then with a copy of that file, begin editing. When you are done editing that file, you will use the "Program PCM" function to upload your new program to the PCM.. I hope this helps....

Thx... appreciate it.... I figured as much but I guess they figure if you're goin to buy it you must already know that.. no need to put it in the instructions.... the part about "assuming you already have a *.LS1 file" kind of through me off <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

You should have a programmers user guide and an edit user guide. The programmer guide is pretty clear about startup. Have fun,but read a lot.
