Educate me on this. If the LS1 cars are controled by the mass air flow sensor. Unless you do crazy mods. Won't the car adjust to most mods. I have a 2000 trans with a 224-228 563 lift comp cam. stage one ported heads. all the free mods 100 shot of nitrous. car runs 1070's on the juice and 1170's on the motor. car dynoed in 100 degree heat. 400 on motor 500 on juice.Car has no tuning. I just wonder if tuning would really be worth it. 500 bucks is a lot of money.
Re: Educate me on this. Thats the great thing about smart cars, the majority of stuff that we do them they will adjust for as best they can.
Is there power in tuning your car?
If you know your a/f ratio and total timing that you were running when you dynoed it than we can make a better assumption.
If your car dynoed with 31 deg overall timing and a 13.0:1 a/f ratio across the board, then there really isn't going to be alot for you to gain with tuning.
FWIW, we have done mod installs on cars and had them LOOSE power until we tuned it. It doesn't sound like your in this situation (400 is pretty stout for h/c) but you get the idea.

Re: Educate me on this. If your just looking for some simple changes (gears, rpm, cooling fans) then you might want to look into a Hypertech Power Programmer. The power program is junk (well for 50% of the people out there), but it allows you to mess with stuff like your limiter.
Their pretty cheap, and with the onset of LS1 Edit and the Predator tuner people are all but throwing them out now.

Re: Educate me on this. I have that programmer. I do use it for the gears. I checked into the preditor. It wont let me raise the rev limiter enough. I think I will get the ls1 edit.
