SCANMASTER Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone here uses the Scanmaster(from Ramchargers)? If so, what all does it allow you to monitor?
I'm not yet ready to buy laptop/LS1 Edit/Autotap until I do some serious mods. However, I've installed nitrous and would like some sort of monitoring tool. Any advise/info/warnings <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> on buying this tool. I want <img border="0" alt="[driving]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_driving3.gif" /> not <img border="0" alt="[bomb]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bomb.gif" />

Re: SCANMASTER I haven't used one for an LS1, but I have used the LT1 version. It's a *cool* gizmo, about the size of a pack of smokes, that can show you knock retard, O2 readings, trouble codes, and a few other little parameters. If I'm not mistaken, it'll also record peak O2 values at WOT or something like that.
IMHO it's a little on the expensive side, but it's still a slick device nonetheless. I've thought about getting one, because it's not always convenient to whip out the laptop, wait for it to fire up, and drive. The Scanmaster is a 'plug and play' device, instant-on.

Re: SCANMASTER I used one in my ATI camaro and I just stuck one in the vette. They are a cool gadget, main display is O2s and KR, it will remember the lowest O2 and highest KR on a run and what MPH each occured at. It will also do ltfts, stft, iat, coolent temp, MAF, MAP, timing and a few more things. It wont record any other parameters then the O2 and KR for one blast and it only displays the other stuff one thing at a time. I like them, they are kinda pricy but they go on sale once in a while.
I dont look at them as a replacement for autotap though, the ability to log a lot of things at once is a must for tuning but you could get away with the scanmaster alone if you had to. The scanmaster is small, light and self contained - I just like it to keep an eye on KR and LTFTs w/o dragging a laptop along and the display is big and bright enough to watch while driving if its in the right place..
