Default Forcing Closed Loop

Is it dangerous to force closed-loop operation from a start-up situation?

After an injector swap I get freefiring on deceleration and on shifting from cold startups until the car enters closed-loop.

I logged my commanded AFR from startup and it goes from around 9:1 to stoich following a decay rate that lasts slightly over 2 minutes. As soon as the car enters closed-loop the freefiring stops.

I tried forcing closed-loop just to see if it had any effect and sure enough the car didn't freefire at all. Obviously this isn't the solution since I don't want to start my car commanding a 14.7:1 AFR with narrowbands that aren't warmed up yet, but it is strange that it works.

Also, what forces the car into closed-loop from open-loop? I know it's more than just your ECT. Thanks!

You may just want to mess with your open loop F/A vs ect table.

Agreed, sort out your open loop VE and fueling instead.
You cant force closed loop when cold as O2 sensors wont work properly until hot.

agreed agreed. the freefiring you refer to is the excess fuel lighting off in the exhuast pipes aka raz.

This may be a stupid question, but do you need a wideband to tune your OLFA table?
