How long for the computer to learn w/edit
How long for the computer to learn w/edit How long does it take the computer to learn after an edit change.I know it makes an immdiate difference but how many pulls should I make before I change something else?
The reason I ask is that after changing the pe vs rpm table we made a pull and the car responded by makeing about 4 hp and the a/f leaned out a bit just at 5500 and up,just as I changed it to.Well I started getting knock at 3500 to 6000rpm.I gained as much as ten then back to 8 or so. To make a long story short after 12 pulls of tring to get rid of the knock and staighten the a/f.I decided to put the car back to the first program inwhich the car immdiatly made more power than it ever had with no knock.This was the same program that gave me only 4 hp and 4 degrees of knock only a half hour before, now the same program has given me a total for 14rwhp and about 20rwtq.Not sure why one minute the tune doesn't work the next I made more power than ever.Anyones experiances would be great. Re: How long for the computer to learn w/edit If you take the approach of forcing negative LTrims there will be no "learning" to account for when in PE mode. Are you using a wideband sensor to dial in the A/F ratio? As for the KR... assuming your A/F ratio is reasonable (12.8-13.1) you will just have to start working the high octane timing table to eliminate the KR. It can be a slow process but keep in mind that a single degree of timing can make or break it. If you believe heat soak on the dyno may be influencing the engine temperature enough to aggrivate the KR move to the street and see how it responds. I do this with FI cars frequently.
