how much can stock pcm handle

how much can stock pcm handle what is the max you can do to engine with stock pcm, im good at the mechanical end but have no exp. with "tuning". I have ls6 heads that i cant decide if i want to put on my 2k ss, for fear of it not running right with computer. How much cam with those heads and ls6 intake?
Re: how much can stock pcm handle Pretty much once you deviate from stock, you need tuning to optimize you perticular combo. It's would be on par with a carburated set -up w/ wrong jets & timing. It all got to be just right for max power & every car is different. Either you can get LS1 edit or pay to get it tuned.

Re: how much can stock pcm handle I must respectfully disagree with wrencher. You can deviate significantly from stock without needing PCM changes. You can change cam and heads without changing the PCM. You can add a low-boost supercharger without changing the PCM. The PCM will sense the increased airflow and increase fuel flow accordingly. We can quibble about his mention of the word "optimize" but neglecting tuning is not equivalent to a carburated engine having incorrect jets and timing. A stock PCM can certainly adapt to LS6 heads and cam. A bigger cam would probably be ok too as long as you don't change the MAF sensor.
