Speed Demon rocks..autotap software is a POS....... I ordered autotap this past wednesday and recieved it friday so I have to send big thanks to Chris @ speed demon. After I recieved the software I installed it onto my laptop. I hooked it up to my car and so far I am very unhappy. Here are my issues:
1) when you start autotap and hook the connection up to the car the guages pull up but they have the ~ where the name is and they dont work. For some reason you ave to do a parameter search that takes 1-4 minutes to find the parameters that the car will read. You shouldn't have to do this once the configuration file is setup.
2) I tried to log O2 B1S1, B2S1, Knock and timing and the unit popped up with a error message which couldn't be closed(kept popping up). I had to exit out of the software reopen the software and after that I had to reinitalize the settings which searches the available parameters.
3) The sampling rate is slow
4) 1/2 of the time you try to connect to the car the connection wont work.
5) Software takes 8 days to load each time you open it up it has to initalize the 5000+ parameters
I am very unhappy with the software. Did I get a bad software or is this software very sub par. I am very close to sending it back for a refund.

Re: Speed Demon rocks..autotap software is a POS....... Mine doesn't have those problems. Loads quickly, connects to the car every time. I got that code once and i sent a note and a copy of the config to Autotap. They responded right away - problem was one of the guages off the screen a bit. I keep the guages on the screen and no problems since.

Re: Speed Demon rocks..autotap software is a POS....... Phill, are you using a serial/USB adapter? That can cause problems with connecting and make everything run slow. If so, do a search; there have been other threads on this and how to solve the problem. The brand of adapter you use makes a big differenc.

Re: Speed Demon rocks..autotap software is a POS....... I have none of those issues with a-tap. Mine works great. I think the older versions of a-tap are more reliable from what I've seen.
