<strong> For a vehicle to be OBD-II complaint it must display all this information in a generic/standardized format. The only tool I 've seen to get readiness tests , is a scan tool that has OBD-II generic capabilities> i.e. hooks up to any OBD-II vehicle. </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif"><img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> So you're saying a-tap won't give me the state of the tests? Somehow that doesn't seem right, I would think it would support readiness tests just as it supports DTCs and MIL command <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />
EFIliveV5...thanks for that info, I guess I'll just have to look for these settings next time I hook up atap.
Can anyone confirm or deny that atap can give the correct state of each readiness test?
Anyway, if you have AutoTap you can always download and use EFILiveV5 (free). The *only* restriction is 5 seconds of data logging.
Without purchasing a license for EFILiveV5 you may still use EFILiveV5 to display:
- System readiness test results.
- Non-continuously monitored test results.
- O2 sensor test results.
- Immature, Pending, Current/MIL, History and Old DTCs for ALL modules.
- History data for ALL DTCs that store history info.
- Clear DTCs for all modules.
- Search for and display ALL modules.
- Search for and display all valid enhanced PIDs.

Paul

In that list are the 11 tests that EFIlive listed in his first relpy. So it looks as though A-tap will cover them. Not sure though considering I have a pretty old version of a-tap. I guess I'll just have to try and see.

So can anyone tell me if a-tap is showing all the tests that apply to that car, or do I perhaps need an update/upgrade to get all the tests shown above?
I don't think the free 5 seconds of EFIlive will help me, because my laptop is not internet capabile and my PC is too far from the car.
Thanks for the help so far guys <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />
<strong> This is of the top of my head but 00' model year LS1= diagnostic readiness tests are,catalyist monitior,evap system,egr system,fuel trim ,missfire monitiors, o2 monitior,o2 heaters,& air pump system. </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">wrencher, thank you for this information <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> I will a-tap my TA and check these out as soon as I get the battery ready <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />
I a-tapped my '00 T/A yesterday and found that in fact a-tap DOES show OBD readiness tests. There were 9 of them, all those that wrencher listed and 1 more.
They were under the diaonostic section, I have a-tap Windows version 1.10
Just an FYI to all who thought a-tap might not show these tests.

There is eleven I/M 240 tests not 9.
Not sure your intent in doing I/M 240 but if its to assure your meeting the smog tests your not assured of results using a non certified scanner, both autotp and Efilive are not.
The only laptop scanner that I use that is EPA certified is the Ease GM scanner for it is also used by some states to do offical I/M 240 smog tests.
Also as per EPA the scanner must have one Icon that is clicked and reports the state of all 11 tests and also to put the results in a printable report.

Before turing tests back on with edit last year, I remember my EGR test showing incomplete. Now, it is complete. Why would it show the test but the info be incorrect? That makes no sense. EPA certified or not, the info is there.
What would the other two tests be? Everything was there per my helms manual. I only found 9 tests.

That is a stipulation of OBD-II that it has generic scan capabilties . As long as the scanner can read it , it's just extracting the same readiness tests status's that any-other tool would. No matter what make '96 & up. I know cali. is alot diff. but most other states farm out emission testing to sub-contractors & they handle testing. Most of their systems are not "inpector" hands on systems. They just hook up to test port & their customized automated system checks it.> one tool to check emissions systems across the board.
