Predator - MAF Ends
My question is... what values should I look at to see if the ends are creating a problem? KR? O2's?
I ran the "Real Time Data" and noticed that I have 0 KR before and after tuning @ WOT. I assume this is good!!! Now, when I check for the O2 values, should I do this @ idle or at a certain RPM? Also, my O2's are constantly changing. Do I just log the highest #?
For example, @ idle my O2 readings are:
70-765 Bank 1 Sensor 1
770 Bank 1 Sensor 2
75-770 Bank 2 Sensor 1
680-700 Bank 2 Sensor 2
The way to get the most HP is to start with the base tune and add a little bit of timing at a time. Put in as much timing as you can from the base tune without adding a lot of fuel - if you have any detonation, or above 1 or 2 degrees KR - back the timing up.
It will vary depending on your mods and even the weather.
I had to take some timing out of the base tune and add a little fuel with my MAF and other air enhancing mods. I am very happy with the results by the SOP, but can't wait to go to the track Sunday to see some numbers!
Thanks for the info.
Are you saying that with your 85mm MAF you have also increased your timing from the stock Predator tune? I'll check the numbers again tonight. I was just worried that my MAF ends were going to create some problems with the tune.
Maybe another stupid question but is the bottom line the KR value? I mean if I'm at 0 KR can I assume that things are good or should I still pay attention to the LTrims and O2 values?
Anyway, thanks for your reply.
Mike
No problem on the help - I'm no expert yet, but I'm learning.
No - I took timing away from the base Predator tune because I had audible detonation with the base tuning. I went straight to -10% and slowly worked my way back up till I had the slightest bit of KR, then backed up a tiny bit. I am at about -5% (equal to -1 degree from the base).
At first I had the fuel right on the base tune, but I was worried about the MAF leaning it out, so I added about +1.5% on the fuel. I will get a friend to ride with me and watch the O2s and lean it out a little more if I can.
My car seems happy right now with no KR and no audible detonation.
You should pay attention to your O2s, however, as long as you don't have any detonation, you are probably alright. You can also pull a couple of plugs right after a very hard run and check to see how they look. If they are very light grey or white, you are too lean.
I don't know yet how hard it is to read the O2s at WOT - I hope to get some help and find out soon. Like I said earlier, I was told 88 to 90 is best at WOT.
I am still trying to figure out Lterms, but from what I understand so far, they deal with part throttle. They should not be affected too much by the Predator tune - I believe it deals mostly with WOT.
The best thing I've found is just to make small adjustments and only one thing at a time. Start at the safest point and work towards the advanced/lean point and if you start to see any hints of danger, back up a little. Also keep an eye on things when the weather changes a lot.
Hope this helps a little.
Hey, just got back from the track. (Fontana, CA) The Predator really did work I went from a 13.320 @ 106.66 to a 13.149 @ 107.38. I however noticed slight pinging on my fist run but it seemed to go away on my 2nd, 3rd and 4th runs. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />
FYI, I'm still getting 0 KR. Maybe I'll back the timing off just a bit.
I'll also post my time slips from today and 2 weeks ago so you can compare.
Later,
Mike
