AIR System, Bank 1
I wouldn't think this would cause the problem, but I have a spark plug that burns cooler than the other 7 due to one of them being dropped. That shouldn't cause any errors though should it? Especially not in the AIR system. Any advice?
Thanks in advance
Scott
What happens is that the pump turns on, and starts shooting fresh air in to both sides of the exhaust. The check valves allow this fresh air to enter, and the PCM monitors the O2 sensors to see if there's a change in oxygen content reading (air pump on = high oxygen). If there's a change, then it knows that all is functioning normally.
If the PCM knows that the air pump is on, sees fresh air on the passenger's side (bank 2), but doesn't see the fresh air on the driver's side (bank 1), it'll throw this code. So, focus on the check valve.

Andrew
