Default Troublecode 1416....help please

Troublecode P1416 = Port Air Circuit Malfunction...OK...I just finished installing a whisper lid with K&N air filter, NGK TR6 Plugs, MSD 8.5mm wires, NOS kit 5177 100 shot, and de-screened and ported the MAF....I have an automatic and heard not to port the MAF on an automatic but I am not sure if this code is related to that. Autozone coded is today and gave me this code and is the only one that came up. Another odd thing is that my TCS off light stays on constantly and I cannot use the TCS switch to turn it back on...? Fuse maybe but I havent checked yet...any info is greatly appreciated....thanks

For the trouble code, sounds like you may have left one of the EGR connectors off maybe? No idea on the TCS.

I cleared the "Service Engine Soon" light and when I did I was able to clear the TCS problem also....?????? I cleared the SES by pulling the PCM Ignition and PCM batt fuses. I am stumped on this one.....

Default p1416 code

Hey Cruz...I think I can help you out on this one...my 2000 threw this code the other day and it's actually the"secondary air injection system" code. What this means is that on the passenger side there is a restriction in the air tubes or either the little black check valve where the hose plugs into is stuck. The most likely cause is the check valve and it only costs $30 at the GM dealership. You may also pull the air hose off the check valve and see that there is buildup in the tubes so you might wanna clean that out, but like I said maybe put a new check valve in and that should clear it up!

Ever find out anyting? I am having both of these issues (TCS light on and P1416).; I replaced the check valve. Still have SES light. Do you think these are seperate issues? I know my TCS is innactive but cant turn it on/off.

The SES should shut off by itself for P1416 after 3 consecutive cold ignition cycles without a failure. Have you tried resetting the PCM then reading for any new codes? I don't think they're related.

I just replaced my passenger side check valve for the same reason, code 1416. However, you may have carbon buildup in the metal line or rubber hose that connects to the check valve, which would cause the same problem. Pull off the checkvalve and spray some carb cleaner (Seafoam is good) down the metal line and let it set. That should clean it out nicely if there is a blockage of carbon in there.

For clarification we are talking about the air pump check valve right?
