Silverado Refuses to Start I own a 2002 Chevy Silverado with a 5.3 Liter V8 and auto trans thats not starting. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> The aftermarket accesories include a stereo, Hypertech power tuning, an alarm with remote start, and cat-back exhaust. Monday I drove my truck 30 miles to a nearby town and dropped it off at a stereo installation shop to get some subs installed. On tuesday I returned to find that my baby refused to start. I would turn the key and it would turn over and start but would die after only about a second. The owner (a freind of mine) said they started the insall and needed to start it to move it and the truck wouldn't start. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> Well, I went back Wednesday and the same happened. The boss went through all the alarm and stereo wires and found it to be in order. What could be doing this to my pride and joy? <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

Re: Silverado Refuses to Start Well I would start by trying to get some trouble codes, not necessarilly with autotap just a code reader. You say it started then died, then it may have thrown a code, and that should give you some place to start. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Re: Silverado Refuses to Start It may have something to do with the alarm system or remote start. If the vechicle senses that it was "tampered" with it might cut fuel and lock itself down.

Re: Silverado Refuses to Start Check and see where they pulled the power for the aftermarket electronic equipment...there are "multiplexes" in the underhood fuse block and you can booger everything up if you tap into the wrong one.
When my buddy put my fans in my truck, we tapped a 12V ignition source from the fuse block under the hood and my a/c wouldn't work, the truck wouldn't run right, and the truck would stay running until the fans quit spinning! I think I blew about 4 or 5 fuses in the whole ordeal.
I would check that first. You might have to get power directly from the battery or the 12v "jumper" terminal under the hood.

I bet the anti-theft system is not communicating w/PCM & you get this start stall .If the PCM doesnt recieve a signal from theft deterant module it will shut inj. pulse down. Tell the stereo butchers <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" /> to FIX IT! <img border="0" alt="[shoot]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_guns.gif" />

Re: Silverado Refuses to Start I've had a similar problem which pointed to a clogged fuel filter down under(by driver side door). Replace it anyway. That fixed it for my 98 Silverado (454). Also, if you added any advanced voltage devices for greater spark (ie. Jacobs Electronics etc.) Check that dist cap (again I'm talking 1998 Silverado). Re: Silverado Refuses to Start Hey i'm new around here but my friend in his '94 Z/28 had a simular problem and it was his computer chip that was in his KEY. We ran some wires to bypass it and it started right up and hasn't had any problems since. Maybe its just your ignition key. My .02.
