Default HPT read any PCM?

Apparantly we cannot read just any LS1 PCM with HPTuners, right? We have VCM Suite Pro serial. We attempted to read an '01' Vette that we do not have a license for but could not just read it. We recently switched to HPT to try it out but had to go back to our previous brand of software to accomplish this. Now that we have a bin file from this other software, should we be able to use it with HPT?

Thanks,

hp only offers reading of files that you have a license for. What other software allows you to pull *.bin files off of the pcm?

efilive allows you to pull any bin off any year.
You just cant write changes unless you license the PCM.

EFI live allows you to pull a bin off a pcm? or they allow you to pull the file out and save it as a *.tun file. HUGE difference when it comes to compatibility with other tuning solutions.

HPT allows you to look at any vehicle file they support if the file already exists. You can even edit it as much as you want. Just can't save the changes unless you are licensed for that vehicle type. You could always look here http://www.horist.com/hptuner/ for a similar vehicle and download the file and look at it with your HPT.

I was under the impression that ls1edit saved it as a *.ls1 file.

Oops, you are correct, thanks. The main thing is that I've learned that I cannot read just any LS1 PCM with my existing HPT. Fortunately we have LS1 Edit for that. We get customers with custom tunes that come to us with problems asking for advice. By looking at their existing tune we can better advise them as to what their best options are.
