Tuning takes 28 seconds with HPtuners. Not much room for error.
But, according to HPtuners, you're ok as long as you don't turn the ignition off. (Never gonna try it though).

I've probably done over a thousand LT1 reprograms, and I've never lost a pcm.
I'm sorry, but if you do it's either user error or you didn't check the connections or battery (car and computer) before starting.
Always do a read before you do a reprogram on an LT1, watch what you're doing, use your head and you won't lose the flash chips.
