Believe they do come out with updates from time to time, but just to fine tune things. Remember talking to our local tuner and he said he had access to all the "GM updates." Used to be a link back in '03 from GM where you could put in your VIN and check for any updates - http://calid.gm/com? but no longer works. Still have the print out for my car and it listed a few minor things like "reduce potential for false codes (trans) setting" etc. Never got an update though. Sorry no definitive answer for you...

GM is always updating the software in the later model vehicles. They do it for drivability concerns and things of that nature. I tryed to use my vin to see if a new update has been released, but I don't have access to it on my GMdealerworld account.

On my car anyway adding timing from 23.5 to 28 WOT did absolutely NOTHING to the power. I dont think adding timing on a H/C car is going to do much for ya.... a local well known veteran tuner told me the same thing.
