'98 had an "orphan" PCM, different pinout and code, so
"too hard" for some companies to bother making you a
tuning tool.

Handhelds are not entirely a waste of money and time,
but they are as close as you can get in the tuning arena.
You're guaranteed to outgrow their capability. So, best
to try and grow into a real tuning package or just put
the money toward things you are going to stay happy
with. My $349 Predator just sits in a bag, in the dark.
At the time I bought it, certain representations were
being made (like, updates would happen). Yeah. Not.
Now it's just another brick, since my modding has
gone well past what it could "touch".

there really isn't a best, its more of a personal preference, as both programs can do the same exact things.

EFI LIVE www.efilive.com
and HPTuners www.hptuners.com

I have EFI LIVE and I love it. Several people say HPTuners is more user friendly, and also it is a little cheaper off the bat, but EFI Live comes with updates free for life...

AT efilive.com you can download a demo copy and play with it and see how you like it. I don't know if HPTuners offers that yet
