Will a bad Cat make you run rich? hey guys.....I failed emissions becasue of a bad cat....also i think im running a little rich, becasue when i stop at a stoplight, some white smoke comes out, and 2 mechanics that im friends with say they think im just running a little rich...so i have 4 questions
1 will a bad cat make you run rich?
2 How can you do a "scan" to see if your running rich?
3 how can you fix running rich? whats a good product to use
4 Is it better to run rich if Im going to use Nitrous? I have a NX kit installed on my car

I have the same problem as you do. If your running rich you will throw these two codes P0172 and P0175 (02's)...thats what im throwing. Im also throwing P0430 meaning I have a bad cat. Go to autozone and they should have a scanner you can plug into your car. You might have to pay $170 for a deposit but you get it back as soon as you return it. I tried to look at this site but I dont understand it to the fullest maybe your friends can check out this site and help both of us out. http://gearchatter.com/
