Default 30 hp increase with a tune?

There's a new speed shop opening up here in the N.W., and I have been contacted by one of their tech's.
They became aware of my car through a friend of mine who had his Mach 1
dyno'd t their shop. What they want is to do a dyno pull on my car to get a baseline, then tune it to see how much of an improvement they can achieve.
My car is basically stock. 3000 fuddle, magnaflow and a lid, which is why they are so interested in it. The plan on using the result's in their advertising.
The cost?
Free. They just wish to use my car for a test bed.
They assured me that the hardware/software they use is absolutely safe.
Any problem whatsoever would be picked up by the computor before there was any chance of damage.
I think I'm going to go for it.
My car seem's to run strong but the shift point's could maybe be tweeked just a bit. Who know's, maybe there is a little more hp to be gained.
Dude said possibly as much as 30 horsepower, is that possible?
Any opinion's/ advice much appreciated.
Thank's guy's.

I had my car tuned with hp tuners today and saw an exact 30 hp and 28 tq gain. The car is pretty mild with just mid-length headers and dual exhaust.

it is possible, but you gotta be good. since they are doing it for free, ask to watch.
they will be changing spark, air to fuel, trans shift points, shift firmness...probably some other stuff too.

if they screw up, tell them to put your car back the way it was to stock(and watch them do it) and leave, end of story. IT is not worth the trouble nor the hassle of having a messed up car or improperly running car

Find out exactly what software they are using, and make sure your existing tune is saved. They could be competent, or they could not be. Better safe, than sorry.

They told me the name of the software but Ill be damned if i can remember it.
They said I could watch, take a video, anything I wanted.
Seem like a very competent group of people, but then again, you never know.
Don't laugh at this question but do they set the shift point's at the top of the torque
or horsepower curve?

generally you'd find where it makes peak hp & valvetrain permitting set your shift point to be ~400-500 rpms above that.

You might see that, but it may be a little lower. You will see a larger gain throughout the powerband than just peak probably.

we have established that there is no difference in SD and CL as long as it is tuned properly in both.

The only way you'll see 30hp from a tune on a LS1 is if your current tune is pretty far off.

The only way your current tune will be pretty far off is if your MODS make it off.

Stock or close to stock car, I'd have to see it to believe it.

Yeah, that's kind of what I figure.
With the very mild mod's done so far I just can't see where they can find the horsepower at.
I can't see GM leaving that much on the table. Even the owner's manual call's fo 91 octane fuel.
But, it is free.
So even 5 hp is worth it. Plus they'll take care of my TM and my speed limiter so what the hell.

I would believe GM would leave some power on the table cuz they wouldnt want their Camaro to compete with or outdo their Vette. But 30hp does sound alot for a stock car.

I'll let you guy's know how it goes.
I WILL post the result's, good or bad. I'm not one of those guy's who starts a thread asking question's and then disappear's.
