electrical gremlins!
i have a 01 z28 conv, with an a4tranny. more often than not when i start it at night i have a strobe light thing going on w/ the lights. headlights dash lights ect.. it's annoying and embarassing as well. anybody have any ideas on what, where the problem is. i hope that it's something simple like an alternator, battery problem. i really don't want to be chasing wires looking for corroded, broken, loose ones. but oh well, it needs done. any help would be appreciated.

If the LT1 cars have an internal voltage regulator like the LS1s then that is what it is. Mine does the samething and I have been told by two different tuners that that is what it is.
oh, i thought he meant that the lights were going out totally. yes, z28/2002 is right, if your alternator has a blown rectifier diode (voltage regulator component) then you will get pulsing of the lights. replace the alternator....
took alternator off today, had it checked on a very expensive digital tester at a rebiuld shop, everything checked out ok. they told me to check grounds for the solution. but i don't think thats the problem. the lights are a constant flicker. just like if you had a 2000 watt stereo and had a constant beat. it's all the time night or day. happens at all rpms. it's not like hig beam/low beam flicker but just a constant little one. i have to turn my dash lights down at night or it drives me nuts! this is on the 01 z28 and not the 96.
