Question Not getting full timing at WOT; any suggestions?

Diagnostic was done on the street.

Replaced the MAP sensor with a new one since the stock one went bad.

My timing went up from the 22* on the bad MAP sensor to the following on the new MAP sensor:

25.5-26* in 1st; 26-26.5* in 2nd; 26.5-27* in 3rd; only went to 5400 rpm's in 4th with 27*. Shifting at ~67xx rpm's.

No KR. Lterms 0. TPS 99.6%. FTC 22.

Timing averages ~26* through 3 gears. I have timing set at 30* in the all-motor tune and I am confused with the timing I'm seeing at WOT

EDIT: does the double-quench of the LS6 style heads affect WOT timing? I never really had an issue on the ported LS1 style heads.

Any input welcome

Double check that the high and low octane tables are commanding the same spark advance. Also, the IAT advance table can retard timing.

Lightbulb

I thought of the Low Octane Table too but I never had to change this table on my Stage II ported LS1 style heads I had changed the Low Octane Table before I posted the thread and planned on retapping tomorrow night to see if that was the problem.

I didn't run into this timing dilemma, with my Low Octane Table stock, until I added the LS6 ported heads.

I'll see what happens with the Low Octane Table and then I'll mess with the IAT Table if that doesn't fix it

Thanks!

I ran into this a little while back as well, but I don't think it was a full 7*. When I lessened the discrepancy between the high and low octane tables, the problem actually disappeared. I set the low octane table with 5* less than the high octane at 4k+ RPM and we saw full timing. Not sure why, but maybe it reset the knock learn when we changed that variable or something.

Also, read this thread for more insight:
