Default if throwing a code, will it result in less power

i was throwing a ses code for the egr when i went to the dyno and had lower #s than i expected. (by about 10% / maybe 30 hp lower). now that this problem has been corrected do you think i'll get a better result? a long time ago i thought i read that a code will reduce timing. ps please don't tell me to go back to the dyno / i will eventually. thanks

Some codes will throw the car over to the lower spark table, but I don't think the EGR ones will. If you were in the lower spark table though, I'd think you'd be off by more than 30 hp. It drops like 7*~9* of timing from the main table. Keep in mind not all dynos are the same and even though some compensate for different weather conditions, it's best to go on a cool, dry day. What are the car's specs/mods and what did you put down?

i'm embarassed i spent at least 4k . 3k parts and 1k labor. i have an a4 w 2:73's, jet hot headers w/cats, rpm muffler, ls6 cam, ls6 ported stage 1 heads, ls6 intake. mail order tune 13.6 a/f. slp cai & lid, i only pulled 336 rwhp / 340 rwtq. on a dynajet perfect 80 degree day. i was expecting at least 360 and hoping for 375. this gives me a headache just thinking about it. i chose mods instead of hawaii? am i loco in the coco?

still waiting for an expert to let me know if throwing code backs off power. any administators or tuners out there please chime in with your 2 cents. ps i rechecked my dyno sheet and my A/F was 13.8. not 13.6. thanks.

The reason for low power numbers was the AFR was to lean, hence why mail order tunes are not perfect ... only good to get you started (baseline). You will need to get your car tuned by a local and reputable tuner. As mentioned, the EGR code will not reduce power.

Yeah, 13.6 is a bit lean. LS1's like to make power in the 12.6 to 12.9 range typically. That lean might trigger the knock sensors, which pull timing. Not to mention the 2.73's are a mechanical disadvantage along with a warm day. Optimal temp is like 56*F.
