Diagnosing voltage problem, assistance needed. Hello. I have a 2001 Camaro SS. For the past month or so, I have had a SES light on, and the car exhibited both stumbling voltage while idling and sometimes failure to start. After running codes, the L-Gen code came up, so I went ahead and replaced all the positive cable wiring with new dealership pieces.
The new wiring worked, as the exciter cable leading to the alternator was frayed and bent. As soon as I started up the car however, it charged and the SES lights went off. However, I can't drive it around the block without the voltage stumbling again.
Is it possible that the alternator would be going out? Now I have no codes, but the voltage is exhibiting the same habits.
