Question p1683?? WTH is this?

ok. so my car has been outta commission for about 2 months. well, last night, we finally got the fuel pump in and it's running fine, but now i have a DTC. i took it to autozone to get it scanned. it says something about metering oil pump temperature sensor circuit malfunction. does anyone have the slightest idea what the hell this is? the guy at autozone has never seen it, so he called a local dealership service center, and that guy said it usually means the pcm is goin out. now, the battery was unhooked for about a week. don't know if that matters. anyone have any ideas?

P1683 isn't listed in my '01 helms, obdii.com lists it as "Driver 5 Line 3" but not for an F-body. Sure they gave you the right DTC?

OK, thumbed through the helms...found P1683 listed under codes "P0601-07, P1600, P1621, P1627, or P1683." Basically says to check/reprogram/replace the PCM.

Edit: Just thought of something else, PCM's are covered under the federal emissions warranty for 8 yrs/80K, just like cats. Worth a try if you have to go that route.

Its a PCM internal error fault. Make sure all your grounds are clean and tight and the PCM Connectors aren't full of water, then have a PCM put in it.

If you're over 80K and dealer can't help - search this forum for "PCM replacement" Don't know if your vibration issue is related or not.
