I called Bosch tech re: slow oxygen sensors

Okay, i think to get ride of the P0153 you need to check for leaks...and seal all those up, that might be a given, i did that and i no long have that code...
now which is a pain, i have the p1153 and p1133 SOB's cleared them a few times, since the car goes through a certain test, looks like it failed and threw the codes again...im still working on getting those fixed...
im gonna have to have them tuned out before i go and get my emissions.

Last weekend I installed a new set of AC Delcos with 24" extensions. I haven't put any miles on it yet, but on my hand held scanner it looks like they are still sluggish. We'll see what happens, but, unfortunately, I tend to think the problem is not with the sensors and that it will be setting codes soon.

I have a 2002LE. Started getting the same o2 codes you have been talking about. Can't get my vehicle to pass inspection because of this problem. Only mods are Air lid and Long Tube Headers. Hopefully someone has an answer to this problem.

New sensors are usually good for a few weeks on my car.

Story very related to the issue you are having, A while back I was running Holley's Stealthram setup on a sbc with some shorty headers and had to move the O2 Sensors down into the header pipe, this cause the exact same issue as you are having, the fix was to change some O2 Sensor timing calibrations to offset the difference from where the O2 sensor should have been or to move the O2 sensor, this did fix my issue, I am not sure if it is possible to change these settings in GM type PCM's.

I've had this problem on and off for the last couple of years, so I tried something different recently.
First I switched back to OEM sensors because they have shorter lead wires. In addition each side is a different length with one shorter than the other. So I used two sensors both with the shorter lead. Then for the passenger side, I did not use any O2 extensions, so the O2 is hooked directly to the PCM harness like stock (no extension). For the driver side I did use an extension, but once again I used the OEM O2 with the shorter lead.
So far, the O2 switching has been really good in all throttle conditions (except WOT of course). The fuel trims has been much more consistent as well. Only time will tell if the problem is really fixed, but so far so good.

Are you setting P0133 and P0153? No? Then they are switching fast enough. Or just keep beating your heads against a wall to satisfy a diagnostic that was written for a stock exhaust system with O2 sensors in their stock locations. Those of us that know better don't care.

Yes, the codes were coming on because the O2's were switching slow, but not anymore since I fixed it. But thanks for the words of wisdom "Those who know better".
