Correct Mileage ?

Im currently looking at a trans am that reads 75000 miles. The guy tells me it actually has 5,xxx more than that. He changed out the cluster due to a faulty tach. Is there any way i hook up to the computer of the car and get an exact reading of mileage?

Any help?

No, the mileage is only stored in the cluster.

I've seen a post somewhere before asking if the PCM stores the actual mileage separate from the cluster - can't remember. If a dealer did it would probably be different (reprogrammed cluster to actual mileage/sticker on the door jamb, etc.) Probably not, shoot you can replace the PCM too. He might be giving you the right info, why would he even mention it? See what the title says/ask for any repair receipts (most shops record mileage)/try carfax...sorry not much help.
