Default PCM gear monitoring for T56

I don't believe this is the case but is there a method by which the PCM can monitor what gear is selected on a T56?

Don't think so. The PCM knows when the clutch is depressed...but, that's about it from what I've seen.

I can't speak for this app but on one of my other cars while tuning it knows what gear it is in by engine rpm and actual speed of the vehicle(vss). It's in the tuning software, but has to be set up by gear ratios. Helps with boost and engine load. But you can't just put it in 3rd at idle and expect the ecu to know. Don't know if that helped or not.

Thanks George. I've had the same experience but I can't seem to directly find where that code is anywhere in the f-body ecm. I was thinking about coming up with some kind of concauction to follow the shifter position. Dunno if that will ever become reality tho .
